I'm sure all the spam reviews showing up lately haven't escaped anyone's notice. (Again, thanks to those of you that let me know about yesterday's lovely flood o' spam.)

It's become a real pain, and I was sure that I was just going to have to finally disable anonymous reviews, but it looks like I might not have to after all (at least for now). For the past few months, I have tried enabling Captcha verification for the archive, but the images were always broken. This apparently had something to do with a setting that my host had disabled for possible security reasons.

The thought of someone having to create an account just to leave a review seemed like a hassle, so I just tried enabling Captcha verification again... and for once the images are actually showing up. I'll be trying this out for a while to see how it goes and if the spam stops or, at the very least, slows down. If the images end up broken again, I'll be disabling anonymous reviews.

Please let me know if you have any problems with registering/reviewing/etc. due to Captcha and I'll try to fix it ASAP.

I've installed a Recommendations module, so registered users can now submit links to Harry/Draco stories located on other sites that they wish to recommend to others. Once you submit a link, I will need to validate it before it will actually show up. This is to prevent spam. As long as it's a valid link to a Harry/Draco story, chances are it will be approved. I've added some information here on how to submit a link.

I hope no one runs into any major issues with this mod, but I'm nervous since I ran into so many problems just trying to install the thing. I've noticed some text showing up twice (e.g. "Off-site Recommendations" showing up twice here). Only a display issue, but it can be annoying. It may or may not have more to do with the new eFiction version rather than the actual mod, I can't be sure. Note: Recommended stories will not show up under recent/updated stories.

Now go ahead and start submitting links to your favorite Harry/Draco stories, guys!

ETA: I've noticed a few anonymous reviews full of spam showing up in the last few days. All three reviews came from the same IP address, so I've blocked that particular address and hopefully the spam will stop. If it starts up again, I may have to turn anonymous reviews off. Just a heads up.

The eFiction script has also been upgraded to version 3.5.1. The only issue I've found so far is that the advanced search page does not want to return any search results. The regular search form does work, however. If you run into any other issues, please let me know!

Have added a new category: Essays. This category is for those of you that wish to share your view of the Harry/Draco relationship.

Two essays that already existed elsewhere on the site have been moved to this category.
