I'm sure all the spam reviews showing up in the fanfiction archive lately haven't escaped anyone's notice. (Again, thanks to those of you that let me know about yesterday's lovely flood o' spam.) It's become a real pain, and I was sure that I was just going to have to finally disable anonymous reviews, but it looks like I might not have to after all (at least for now). For the past few months, I have tried enabling Captcha verification for the archive, but the images were always broken. This apparently had something to do with a setting that my host had disabled for possible security reasons. The thought of someone having to create an account just to leave a review seemed like a hassle, so I just tried enabling Captcha verification again... and for once the images are actually showing up. I'll be trying this out for a while to see how it goes and if the spam stops or, at the very least, slows down. If the images end up broken again, I'll be disabling anonymous reviews. Please let me know if you have any problems with registering/reviewing/etc. in the archive due to Captcha and I'll try to fix it ASAP. Now if only the tagboard had an option to use Captcha, then all would be well. |

Sorry guys, didn't notice that the gallery was such a mess, what with those red MySQL errors all over the place. That was an ugly surprise. I didn't realize that my host had upgraded MySQL to version 5, and that there is apparently a known issue with said version of MySQL and the version of 4images that Nocturnal Secrets uses. The problems should be fixed now, though! |

Well, after dealing with some annoying bugs, I've finally installed the Recommendations module for eFiction! Registered users can now submit links to Harry/Draco stories located on other sites that they think others might enjoy reading. You can also use this feature if you'd rather link to your stories that are uploaded elsewhere instead of uploading them to yet another site. You can browse through the approved recommended links here, and read more on how to submit a link here. Go submit some links! You guys have to have a few stories that you want to recommend. |

I'm currently in the process of upgrading the version of eFiction that Nocturnal Secrets uses as well as giving the archive a new layout. If you have any technical issues with the archive, please try again later. Well, I think everything is done and working properly, except for the advanced search page. Seems like there might be a bug in the script, as I couldn't get any search results to appear at all, but the regular search form works fine. Please let me know if you come across any other issues! |
| Malfoy, Potter, & Linkage Update Posted on 28 Jun 2009 by Christina (0 Comments) |
Small update today, as I've mostly been cleaning up areas of the site and taking a break from uploading more screen captures. I've updated the Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter sections with some more up-to-date information on both the characters themselves and the actors that portray them. Beware of spoilers for Deathly Hallows if you have not yet read the book and do not wish to know how things end! I've also added a few more Tom-centric links to the Linkage section, so be sure to check them out if you have any interest in reading his official Twitter or listening to any of his music! |
