• Began acting at a young age.: First became interested in acting when he was only five years old.; His acting debut was in the television movie David Copperfield in 1999.; In 2001, Dan made an appearance in The Tailor of Panama, acting alongside Geoffrey Rush and Jamie Lee Curtis.; Jamie Lee Curtis thought that Dan would make the perfect Harry Potter.
• Enjoys listening to Blur, Brendan Benson, Muse, Zwan, and The Music.: Also enjoys The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys, and The Sex Pistols.; The Hold Steady is his favorite band.
• Enjoys cricket.
• Suffers from a mild form of dyspraxia.

• Is friends with a few fellow Harry Potter actors.: "Absolutely loves" Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.; Considers Tom Felton to be "among [his] really good friends." • In 2007, Dan took part in a rivival of the play Equus, which ran from February to June 2007.: Equus later went to Broadway and ran from September 2008 until February 2009.
